Eliminate Dandelions And Plant Grass Seed Before Adding An Outdoor Dining Area In Your Yard

If you recently purchased a cottage that is located on a piece of property that contain several patches of dandelions and bare sections where grass is not growing, eliminate the weeds, level the soil, and plant grass seed where needed by completing the directions below. Once grass is growing evenly on the lawn, add a small dining area in your yard so that you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings while dining outdoors.

  • garden gloves
  • face mask
  • herbicide
  • lawn and garden sprayer
  • water hose
  • weed puller
  • small shovel
  • soil
  • rotary tiller
  • grass seed
  • fertilizer
  • seed spreader
  • canopy
  • picnic table
  • lawn furniture
  • grill

Remove Weeds And Level Soil

Put on a pair of garden gloves and a face mask to protect your hands and face from being exposed to chemicals that are in the herbicide that you have purchased. Prepare the herbicide according to the instructions that were enclosed with your purchase. Use a lawn and garden sprayer to administer the herbicide to the top and stem of each dandelion. It may take a couple days for the herbicide to kill weeds. Once this occurs, you will notice that dandelions have wilted.

Use your hands to pull dandelions upwards from the ground or insert a weed pulling tool around each wilted dandelion to loosen the soil before removing the dead weeds. Use a shovel to add soil to depressions in the ground. If the surface of the ground is still uneven after adding soil to depressions, move a rotary tiller across the property to assist with spreading the soil.

Plant Grass Seed And Water The Lawn

Purchase grass seed that is the same variety as the other blades of healthy grass that are growing on your property. Mix the grass seed with the amount of fertilizer that is listed on the grass seed bag and add the components to a seed spreader. Use the spreader to apply an even amount of the mixture to barren parts of the yard. Water the ground daily to keep the grass seed and fertilizer mixture moist. Within a few weeks, blades of grass will grow.

Add An Outdoor Dining Area And Cut Grass Regularly

Select one corner of your property to be used as an outdoor dining area. Install a canopy over the property and place a picnic table, lawn chairs, and a grill underneath the covering. Grill some of your favorite types of meat and vegetables and serve the food on the picnic table. You and your family will be able to enjoy the manicured lawn while eating meals outdoors. Maintain the lawn by cutting the grass and treating weeds on a regular basis.
