Have A Lot Of Landscape Gravel? 2 Ways You Can Use Them

If you had landscape gravel delivered to your property and have a lot of it, there are many things you can do with it. Below are two of these things so you can make your landscaping look even better.

Make a Path or Walkway

Gravel is a great material to use to create a path or a walkway. It is also not hard to do and is something you can create on your own. Remove grass if there is any and then and compact the soil. Lay about two to four inches of base rock on top of the soil and compact this. You can use crushed gravel, pea gravel, river rock, or marble chips as the base gravel. Spread about two to four inches of gravel over the base rock and compact this. There are binding products that you can purchase that you wash over the gravel to hold it in place. You can purchase this at a home improvement store.

You could create a small path that leads to your patio, a flower garden, and more. You can also create a larger walkway that leads to your front door, to a pool, and much more. It can feel satisfying walking on gravel and hearing the sound it makes.

Use for Patio Flooring

If you are planning to build a patio for your home, gravel can be used to make beautiful flooring. This works even better if your patio is not covered as gravel is permeable, which means water drains through the gravel. Gravel comes in different colors so choose a color that goes well with the exterior of your home or a color that matches well with your landscaping. You could also choose a contrasting color to make the flooring really stand out.

To create this flooring first map out the size of the patio you are planning to install. You can do this with stakes and string. Dig the grass up until you reach a few inches deep. Put crushed gravel on the soil to act as the base. This will help hold the gravel in place. Next, put landscape fabric over the base. This is important as this will prevent weeds from growing through the gravel. You can now add the gravel that you plan to use as the flooring.

There are many more things you can do with gravel, such as creating a comfortable fire pit. Reach out to a landscape gravel supplier that serves your area to get started.
